Having no hot water can be a real nightmare. When your boiler is not delivering heat to your hot water system, there are a range of problems that could be the cause, and of course, the sooner you get to the bottom of it, the better! Here at K and M Maintenance, our qualified and professional gas engineers are on hand 24 hours a day to solve any emergency situations you may encounter, including a lack of hot water. Here are some things you can try to get your own hot water back on.

Make sure you have no hot water from any taps in your home, it could just be a one tap or shower problem that may not be stemming from the boiler itself.

Make sure your boiler is switched on and the electricity supply to the boiler is uninterrupted and hasn’t been switched off by accident.

Make sure your hot water thermostat has been turned up to the correct temperature. If your thermostat is set to below 40 degrees, the hot water will feel luke warm.

Ensure that your timer on your boiler hasn’t been altered to only give hot water at a certain time of the day or night. If it has, try and reset your boiler settings to make sure you can have hot water on demand. The settings can alter if there is a power cut or when the time changes for daylight savings hours.

Make sure all your gas appliances are working as if there is no gas coming into your home, your boiler will not be able to provide hot water.

You can also try and reset your boiler using the switch on the front of the boiler, or by following the boiler instructions in your user manual. Please don’t take the cover off the front of the boiler though, as this should only be done by a plumber of electrician.

Check your pressure gauge on your boiler. It should be at the 1 bar where it was set at installation, but if your boiler pressure has dropped you can try and re-pressurise your boiler using the instructions in the user manual.

If none of the above are applicable in your situation or circumstance, then it will be time to call a gas engineer to service and repair your boiler. For all your boiler needs, contact us at K and M Maintenance today.
